Unforgiving on the defensive end, University of the East held Adamson scoreless in the second period en route to a 62-44 victory yesterday in the UAAP Season 80 women’s basketball at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Love Sto. Domingo dished out an all-around performance of 21 points, 14 rebounds, seven steals and six assists while Christine Cortizano and Bienca Ramos had double-double outputs to lead the Lady Warriors to their third straight win and a 4-1 mark, good for solo third.
But it was UE’S relentless pressure which spelled the difference, with Adamson turning the ball over many times and firing one brick after another.
Jamie Alcoy had 14 points but made just six of her 23 attempts from the field, summing up the Lady Falcons’ shooting struggles that dropped them to a 1-4 mark.
Earlier, Far Eastern University stopped a two-game losing skid at the expense of reeling University of the Philippines 73-49.
Valerie Mamaril had 21 points, spiked by five triples, while Precious Arellado had 17 points to help the Lady Tamaraws get back on track and stay at fourth spot with an even 3-3 record. (Jerome Lagunzad)
