SOFIA Marie Sibug, Mutya ng Pilipinas 2017 2nd runner-up, will represent the Philippines in the Miss Global Beauty Queen contest which will be held in South Korea on Oct. 19.
Sibug of Albay left for Seoul on board Cebu Pacific Air last Oct. 3. The Bicolana beauty was accompanied at the airport by Mutya ng Pilipnas Inc. organizers Mayenne Vijandre, Maricel Ang, and Namkeen Hameed.
“See you in a bit, Seoul!! Thank you Mutya ng Pilipinas for this opportunity. I can’t wait to make our country proud!! I hope when I come back I’ll already have my third crown for this year,” said Sibug during an interview to media men.
Before she board the plane, Mutya ng Pilipinas President Hemilyn Escudero-Tamayo gave last-minute briefing to the competing beauty queen.
“It’s my first time flying international alone so I was nervous,” Sibug added.
As a member of Star Magic talent circle of ABS-CBN, Sibug carries the screen name Sofia Romero.
For the past two weeks, Sibug underwent rigorous training under beauty queen maker Rodgil Flores and team.
Sibug also received tips and advices from Mutya international beauty queen title holders Leren Mae Bautista and Glennifer Perido.
The Miss Global Beauty organization fosters the ideals of personal growth and development in young women as well as promoting opportunities towards the enhancement of their potentials, talents and ideals.
Escudero, a former beauty queen, also urged pageant fans to vote for Miss Philippines for Internet Popularity at http://www.missglobalbeauty.org.
