Joint police and military operatives have arrested two ranking officials of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) during a raid on their lair in Bago City in Negros Occidental.
Director General Ronald dela Rosa, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said the operation stemmed from intense intelligence build-up by both the police through the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Philippine Army.
“I am pleased to announce the arrest of two ranking officials of the CPP-NPA last October 19 at about 1:30 p.m. in Barangay Dulao in Bago City,” said Dela Rosa during a press conference held yesterday at Camp Crame.
He identified those arrested as Aurora Cayon, who uses the alias Lilay; and, Louie Antonio Martinez, alias Louie Castro.
Cayon is reportedly a staff member of the National Finance Commission (NFC) of CPP-NPA. Cayon is wanted for Robbery with Violence or Intimidation of Person and Arson.
Martinez, on the other hand, is reportedly the National Military Staff, Logistics, General Command of the CPP-NPA. He is facing Murder and Multiple Attempted Murder.
