Actress Isabel Granada passed away last night due to aneurysm at Hamad General Hospital in Doha, Qatar. She was 41.
The actress’ death was confirmed by her cousin, Joseph Rivera, who is based in Qatar; by her former husband, Jericho Genaskey Aguas, who flew to Qatar a few days ago to be with Granada, close relatives there; and by her husband Arnel Cowley who has been with Granada from the time she collapsed and rushed was to the hospital almost two weeks ago.
“She has been a fantastic wife, mother and daughter. She always did her best in everything she did, whether it be in front of a camera or in sports,” Cowley’s message on Facebook read in part.
GMA News quoted Cowley as saying that her remains will be brought back to the Philippines on Wednesday. He said they were “planning to have Granada’s remains cremated” as per her wishes when she was alive, though it’s still subject to her mother Guapa Granada’s decision.
Granada entered show business in the ’80s. She was part of youth-oriented show “That’s Entertainment,” shot movies as “Resbak,” “Anghel dela Guardia,” and “Aagos ang Dugo,” taped teleseryes, staged concerts, and recorded albums.
Granada is survived by 14-year-old Hubert, her son with Aguas.
