The South Korean government will allow group tourists from the Philippines, Indonesia, and Vietnam to enter the country without a visa on a very limited basis.
Several government agencies, including the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, held a policy meeting on Nov. 3 to discuss how to revitalize Korea’s falling tourism market in relation to next year’s Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and the improvement of relations between South Korea and China.
According to the culture ministry, group tourists from the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia will be allowed to visit Olympics host city Pyeongchang until April next year without a visa if they enter the country through the YangYang International Airport, Yonhap News reported. The airport is located in YangYang County, Gangwon Province or about 158 kilometers from Seoul.
A travel agency will be designated by the Korean government to handle the group tourists. (Jonathan M. Hicap)
