To continue my advocacy series on raising more awareness on animals, I normally exhibit from the lizard family the black-throated monitor. This lizard is a scavenger and usually preys on rat.
The last from the reptile family I showcase is the most famous among kids and lizard-lovers – the green iguana.
Contrary to what most people think, Iguanas are not difficult to take care of.
People mistakenly feed them meat but in fact, they are herbivores and should only be fed with pure leafy salads. Its “dulo” or “palong” under its jaw is important in cooling down.
One of the bizarre things about the green iguana is that it has a third eye that doesn’t actually see things but senses the presence and absence of light. They also like spending time solitarily.

My first exhibit from the snake family is the ball python, one of the most famous among reptiles. It rolls itself into a ball for defense.
One of its distinct characteristics is that they can go on fasting and can survive without eating for a whole year.
