FREEDOM AND MORE – “Singing for me is freedom, honesty, and telling your story. Singing and music will be most natural, the most real, the most raw form of art.”
That’s Matteo Guidicelli speaking, not the actor or triathlete but the singer. The rocker, in particular.
This the Fil-Italian guy will show in his upcoming concert on Nov. 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Kia Theater in Araneta Center, Cubao, QC. It’s billed “Hey Matteo!”, a follow-up to his SRO Cebu concert last year, “#MatteoMadeinCebu.”
The Kia concert will be mostly original rock numbers, three of which he sang “con mucho gusto” at a recent media event. “It’s the music of millennials like me,” says Matteo.

COVERS, TOO – Matteo isn’t forgetting those who go for more mellow songs. Covers he’ll also do. “Tito Martin said he’d try to fly back home from the US so he could guest in my concert.” If Martin makes it, then Broadway and OPM numbers will be part of “Hey Matteo!”. And he’ll surely do some duets with Martin.
Confirmed guests are Kiana Valenciano, Morisette Amon, and Rapper Loonie. With Rowell Santiago as stage director and Louie Ocampo as musical director.
Although more known as actor and sportsman, Matteo’s been singing since his school days. A second album is coming up.
“Hey Matteo!” is produced by Big Bang, the same company that was behind Matteo’s Cebu concert. Big Bang co-manages Matteo with Star Magic.

SWEET INSPIRATION – No, Sarah Geronimo isn’t part of “Hey Matteo!”. Although sweethearts, Matteo and Sarah have separate careers…by choice. He doesn’t want to give the impression that she’s being used to advance his status in showbiz. They don’t co-star on screen, be it movies or television.
But of course, Sarah remains Matteo’s sweet inspiration.
Matteo has a movie coming up, “Singles/Singles,” a big-screen continuation of the TV romcom (Cinema One) of the same title, with Shaina Magdayao. The movie’s co-produced by Philippine Star and Star Cinema. It’ll be shown next year.
Also with a 2018 playdate is a telenovela for ABS-CBN. It has started taping, but Matteo isn’t about to divulge details. “Di pa raw puede.”
Matteo is truly one of the friendliest actors around, to the manor and manner born.
