Seventy-three persons were arrested while two others were killed in the ongoing campaign of the Philippine National Police against motorcycle-riding suspects in the past 32 days.
PNP spokesperson Chief Supt. Dionardo Carlos attributed the success of the ongoing operations to intensified police efforts.
Data from the Crime Information Reporting and Analysis System of the PNP-Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management said that of the 394 incidents attributed to motorcycle-riding suspects from Oct. 10 to Nov. 12, 20 were cleared, 49 were considered solved, and 325 are under investigation. It also disclosed that 439 victims were recorded, including 155 killed and 220 unharmed, during that period.
Metro Manila had 52 cases, Region 7, 45; and Regions 3 and 4-A with 44 cases each.
Robbery remains to be the most prevalent motive behind MRS-related crime incidents.
PNP chief Director General Ronald “Bato” M. dela Rosa has ordered his men to bolster operations against at-large suspects through increased police visibility, mobile patrol, checkpoint, and intelligence-driven police operations.
