BUTUAN CITY – As if to debunk military claim they are wilting as a force, the New People’s Army (NPA) has released a statement on Monday claiming responsibility for 27 successive attacks against government forces and installations in various parts of Mindanao early November.
In the statement, the NPA maintained the series of attacks, which they said claimed the lives of at least 13 government soldiers as with the wounding of 12 others, were launched to demonstrate their strong opposition to the current government’s continued alliance with the USA.
They also slammed the government for hosting the recently concluded ASEAN summit which they said could only aggravate the imposition of neoliberal policies in the country.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) were quick to debunk figures as mere “propaganda and lies.” (Mike U. Crismundo)
