Father Teresito “Chito” Soganub, the priest who was abducted by the Maute terrorist group in Marawi, is now in the care of the church.
Marawi Bishop Edwin Dela Peña said officials from Camp Aguinaldo formally turned over to them Fr. Chito last Monday.
It was last May 23 when the Maute abducted Soganub and some churchgoers when the extremist group attacked Marawi.
After the priest was rescued by the Armed Forces of the Philippines in September, Soganub stayed inside the military headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo, where he underwent debriefing.
“There was a formal turnover and part of our conversation with the Chief of Staff was to talk in behalf of the Christians in Marawi if they could be allowed to return to their place where they were living before,” said Dela Peña. (Leslie Ann G. Aquino)
