4 p.m. – Petron vs Iriga City
6 p.m. – Foton vs F2 Logistics
It would be a battle of skills and mental toughness when heavyweights F2 Logistics and defending champion Foton clash today in the 2017 Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at the Batangas City Sports Center.
The Cargo Movers stake their unbeaten six-game winning run while the Tornadoes gun for a share of the lead in their thrilling 6 p.m. duel.
F2 Logistics coach Ramil de Jesus feels vulnerable after being at the helm throughout the conference so far as action intensifies in the crucial elimination stage.
The highest-ranking squad will face the No. 8 team, the No. 2 team faces the No. 7 squad, third seed collides with the sixth seed, and the fourth-ranked team battles the fifth-ranked squad in the knockout quarterfinals stage starting on Dec. 5.
“I’m quite worried because playing Foton is going to be very tough. As much as possible, we want to sustain this run,” said De Jesus.
De Jesus relies on the effective chemistry of imports Kennedy Bryan and Maria Jose Perez with locals Kim Fajardo, Aby Maraño, Kim Dy and Majoy Baron. But he also hopes his team’s ability to recover from errors would improve.
As for Foton, Serbian coach Moro Branislav and his stalwarts are ready for the challenge to hike their 5-1 win-loss tally.
The Tornadoes, whose only defeat came at the expense of bitter rival Petron Blaze Spikers in four sets, have their own deadly combo in imports Sara Klisura and Dragana Perunicic, along with Jaja Santiago, Rubie De Leon and CJ Rosario.
Meanwhile, Cignal and Iriga City thumped their respective rivals on Thursday for 3-4 and 2-4 records.
