Four exotic locales play host to the four legs of the ICTSI Philippine Kiteboarding Tour which gets going on Dec. 1 in Lakawon Island in Bacolod.
Jay Ortiz, president of the Philippine Kiteboarding Association (PKA) yesterday expressed excitement over the prospects of seeing the country’s best bets in the race, freestyl and, hangtime (longest in midair) strut their stuff alongside foreign invitees.
“We’re pretty much pumped up,” said Ortiz during yesterday’s launch of the event at the Mango Tree in BGC in Taguig.
After Lakawon Island phase set Dec. 1-3, the event travels to Bantayan Island in Cebu for the Jan. 5-7 gig, Boracay in Aklan from Feb. 9-11 and Cagbalete Island in Quezon from March 2-4.
To make the event extra special, ICTSI shelled out P3.5 million to help finance it and make it even more prestigious.
Established in 2013, the PKA is made up of professional and recreational riders.
Ortiz, meanwhile, said the PKA is also using the event to help in the discovery of a talent who will compete in the Youth Olympic Games in October in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
