The 2017 Philippine National Figure Skating Championships took place last Nov. 26 and 27 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, an annual event designed rank rising Filipino skaters.
Michael Martinez and Jules Alpe did not take part in the nationals this year so the limelight fell on Yamato Rowe who topped the senior level with a total score of 129.34, beating guest skater Chetan Reddy Kammakatla of India.
SEA Games bronze medalist Alisson Krsytle Perticheto shone brightest in the distaff side, tallying 133.93 to beat Samantha Cabiles.
Sophia Guidote successfully defended the junior ladies division, with a total score of 87.60. Dianne Gabrielle Panlilio settled for the silver (78.62) while Elia Mariel Mendoza copped the bronze (73.75).
In the advance novice, Charmaine Skye Chua glided her way to the gold with a total score of 67.26. Skye Frances Patenia copped the silver (60.77) while Aiko Marie Shibata settled for the bronze (54.06).
Ann Cathryn Lagemann stood out in the basic novice A class, followed by Felicity Cristobelle Eco and Veronica Claire Eid. For basic novice B, it was Anika Melle Angsico winning the gold with a total score of 25.10, followed by Nicole Vasil Dristas and Haley Elizabeth Streleoff.
