Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, who became one of the judges at the just concluded Miss Universe 2017 beauty pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada, has said that she was proud of Rachel Peters who represented the Philippines in the prestigious contest.
“And to @rachelpetersx, thank you for making us proud. Sitting on the other side, it was so nice to witness a Miss Philippines perform and have the loudest cheer in the crowd. Keep your head up. We’re all so proud of you,” said Wurtzbach on Instagram.
Several fans have been at odds when it was announced that Wurtzbach will be one of the judges in this year’s pageant as Peters represented the country in the contest.
They claimed that the judges decision might be affected because the two women belong to popular rival beauty camps in the country.
Wurtzbach is trained under the Aces and Queens of Jonas Gaffud while Peters is groomed by the Kagandahang Flores of Rodgil Flores.
Peters, 26, of Camarines Sur, placed in the Top 10 of the 66th Miss Universe contest last Sunday.
The Filipino-German beauty urged all the contestants in this year’s pageant to continue inspiring and empowering as she wished success to all the winners.
“Sending love to all the ladies at Miss Universe 2017! @missuniverse Congratulations to our new Miss Universe @demileighnp from South Africa! A well deserved win! We can’t wait to witness your journey as Miss Universe,” she said.
Wurtzbach also cherished her friendship with Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaire of France who was crowned in Manila last January.
“To @irismittenaeremf I’m so proud of you. You had an amazing reign as Miss Universe. I’m so happy that we got along so well and I gained a friend in you,” Wurtzbach said on IG.
