Bureau of Immigration (BI) officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) have intercepted a Somali national who attempted to go to the United Kingdom by pretending to be a Swedish citizen and using Manila as a transit point.
BI Commissioner Jaime Morente identified the foreign impostor as 23-year-old Abdinajah Mohamoud Aden who arrived at the NAIA 2 terminal last Nov. 25 aboard a Philippine Airlines flight from Dubai.
Morente said the Somali, who arrived as a transit passenger, was about to board his connecting flight to London when he was accosted by members of the BI travel control and enforcement unit (TCEU).
The passenger was later booked on the first available flight to his port of origin, Morente said, adding that the incident was also relayed to officers of the British embassy in Manila for their information.
“What is his intention? Why is he travelling to London?“ Morente asked as he stressed that under the law aliens using spurious travel documents are excludable aliens subject to outright expulsion from the country.
