MISS Philippines Chanel Olive Thomas finished in the Top 10 of the Miss Supranational beauty pageant held in Poland yesterday.
Jenny Kim, 23, of South Korea, was crowned Miss Supranational 2017.
Before she became Miss Supranational 2017, Jenny represented her country in the 2016 Miss Universe beauty pageant held in Manila on January 30. She did not place in the contest.
Jenny is studying at the Ewha Womans University with a double major in international office administration and English language and literature. She also volunteers to be an interpreter at the National Museum of Indonesia in Jakarta.
Other winners were: Tica Martinez, Colombia, 1st runner-up; Bianca Tirsin, Romania, 2nd runner-up; Bitaniya Yosef, Ethiopia, 3rd runner-up; and Larissa Santiago, Puerto Rico, 4th runner-up.
Chanel finished in the Top 10 along with other candidates from Costa Rica, Portugal, Poland, and Thailand.
Other contestants in the Top 25 are delegates from Albania, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, India, Indonesia, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Serbia, South Sudan, Wales, and Vietnam.
Prior to the finals, Chanel won second place in Best in swimsuit through online voting. Miss Vietnam won the special award.
In the swimsuit portion, Chanel wore a bejeweled red bikini designed by Edwin Uy.
Sixty-five candidates from around the world competed in the Miss Supranational 2017 pageant held in Slovak Republic and Poland.
In 2013, Mutya Johanna Datul of the Philippines won the Miss Supranational contest, the first in Asia and for her country.
