4:15 p.m. – F2 Logistics vs Iriga City
7 p.m. – Petron vs Generika-Ayala
Fancied teams F2 Logistics and Petron seek semifinal seats when they clash with separate foes today in the quarterfinals of the 2017 Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Cargo Movers collide with the Iriga City Lady Oragons in the 4:15 p.m. curtain raiser, while the Blaze Spikers tangle with Generika-Ayala Lifesavers at 7 p.m. of this knockout phase.
F2 Logistics and Petron are the heavy favorites in their respective matchups after clinching the top two seeds at the end of the eliminations with similar 7-1 win-loss records.
However, it was the Cargo Movers who gained the No. 1 seeding and the right to face the eighth-seeded Lady Oragons due to a superior quotient.
But F2 Logistics coach Ramil De Jesus is still wary of their rivals, who are hungry to avenge their 25-11, 25-17, 25-16 elims defeat to the Cargo Movers to pull off a surprise.
“At this point, we can’t underestimate anybody,” said De Jesus, whose only loss came at the expense of Foton in five sets.
Imports Maria Jose Perez and Kennedy Bryan will continue to provide fire for F2 Logistics particularly at the attack line and their chemistry with locals Aby Maraño, Kim Fajardo, Kim Dy and Majoy Baron will be their strongest advantage.
Like F2 Logistics, Petron aims to duplicate its 25-13, 25-17, 25-19 elims victory over Generika-Ayala to advance in the Final Four.
Petron coach Shaq Delos Santos casts his eyes on foreign reinforcements Hillary Hurley and Lindsay Stalzer.
Delos Santos can also rely on Ria Meneses, skipper Ces Molina, libero Bang Pineda and setter Rhea Dimaculangan.
Underdogs Iriga City and Generika-Ayala remain unfazed despite their lower rankings.
At eighth and last seed, the Lady Oragons are not losing hope to make an impact with Tamara Kmezic and Janeca Lana bannering their charge.
The Lifesavers, at seventh place, have Darlene Ramdin and Katerina Pilepic to challenge the Blaze Spikers.
