SHARON-ROBIN FILM MAKES IT: We are among many who feel extremely happy for the success of Sharon Cuneta’s comeback movie, “Unexpectedly Yours.”
The movie, reteaming Sharon with former beau and screen leading man Robin Padilla, is doing very well at the box office.
With a recorded opening gross of P14 million, the film has reportedly grossed over P50 million as of this writing, and counting.
This is too much of welcome news for Sharon, who has not had a mainstream film in many years, and whose career has been on a standstill just as long.
The lull has caused undue unhappiness to the megastar, who at one time thought it’s all over for her and the movies.
Not until this new film came along. It must be noted, though, that Sharon acted in an indie film this year also, “Ang Pamilyang Hindi Lumuluha.”

PERFECT MATERIAL: It matters that Star Cinema has prepared a sound project for Sharon. The role of an aging corporate executive threatened by younger colleagues suits her fine. Sharon has also imbued the part with sincerity and warmth that she came out so real and so true.
More than being a love story, the movie is family-oriented as it speaks of values and lessons on how parents and children should connect and be more sensitive to each other.

DOUBLE DUTY: The tried and tested love team of Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia join forces with the iconic tandem of Sharon Cuneta and Robin Padilla in Star Cinema’s “Unexpectedly Yours.”
Directed by Cathy Garcia Molina, “Unexpectedly Yours” is a romantic-comedy for the whole family that aims to show every moviegoer how life changing it is to take the leap of faith and give love a second chance.
Sharon plays the overbearing and overachieving Patty who is gradually losing control over the things and people that she values the most.
Her daughter Yanni is played by Julia Barretto. Yanni is a passionate and determined young woman whose relationship with her mother is strained due to her parents failed marriage.
Robin plays the role of the adventurous and charming Cocoy whose generosity and love for his family resulted to his singlehood for many years. Cocoy is idolized by his equally charming nephew Jason, portrayed by Joshua Garcia, who has a crush on Yanni.

HISTORIC PARTNERSHIP: Sharon and Robin last worked together in 2001 in the movie “Pagdating Ng Panahon.” They made box office history 26 years ago when they starred in the classic film “Maging Sino Ka Man,” which broke box-office records in 1991.
This is also the third film of Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia, also known as JoshLia.
Julia and Joshua first worked together in the blockbuster hit “Vince And Kath And James.”
The success of Julia and Joshua’s big-screen tandem paved the way for a second full-length film, “Love You To The Stars And Back.”
