NEWLY crowned Miss Tourism International Jannie Loudette Alipo-on arrived in the country last Thursday as she revealed that colors and numbers have proven to be her lucky charms during the beauty contest held in Malaysia last Wednesday.
“May mga color na nagpapaswerte sa akin. Lagi ko syang suot nung pre-judging and during the grand finals” said Alipo-on, during an interview at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) Terminal 3 in Pasay City.
“Dalawa sila – pink and blue. It’s not also the colors but also the numbers. May palatandaan din ako pagdating sa numbers like, as my number as a candidate in Mutya ng Pilipinas, kahit isa lang, konektado na;
“Yung number na ‘yun nasa room ko. May number din ako nun sa Mutya ng Pilipinas. Konektado lahat,” said Alipo-on, of Navotas City. She did not reveal her lucky numbers.
Alipo-on, who competed in various local pageants for several years before she became an international beauty queen, advised aspiring beauty queens to follow their dreams.
“Like what Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach has said, don’t give up on your dreams. When you lost on several attempts, it’s just a reminder that you have to work harder to achieve your dreams. This pageant journey is never easy.”
Alipo-on, 25, said that she is dedicating her pageant victory to her mother.
When asked the first person she called moments after she won the pageant, she laughed and said: “Wala po! Ang mahal ng tawag.”
Asked if she will go back to the popular Kapuso game “Wowowin” as co-host of Willie Revillame, the beauty queen said: “Let’s wait and see.”
Alipo-on is the fourth Filipina to win the Miss Tourism International crown in the 23-year-old beauty contest. (Robert R. Requintina)
