Gospel Reading: Mt 11:28-30
Jesus said to the crowds: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”
Reflection
COME TO ME…
I WILL GIVE YOU REST
Jesus’ words are a constant source of strength and hope, especially for those who are heavily burdened. Not because Jesus promises to remove all burdens from their lives, but because he promises a lighter load. While the world or other people may be harsh and merciless in demanding from us, Jesus is gentle and lowly of heart; and while the world’s burdens may be too heavy to bear, Jesus’ yoke is easy and his burden light.
This should awaken us to the truth: God allows us to experience hardships and carry burdens – because they help us grow stronger – but God does not give us burdens beyond what we can carry.
Do you blame God for your hardships?
Do you really think God wants you to suffer greatly?
Think again.
