7 p.m. – F2 Logistics vs Petron
Petron, peaking just at the right time, guns for the 2017 Philippine Superliga Grand Prix crown as it intends to sweep F2 Logistics in Game 2 of their title series today at The Arena in San Juan City.
Their confidence further boosted by a masterful 25-14, 25-21, 25-16 win in Game 1 last Tuesday, the Blaze Spikers are looking to end the year with a bang when they clash with the Cargo Movers at 7 p.m.
A win for Petron will secure for itself its first Grand Prix crown.
“This is the best time to peak and I’m just happy that we’ve been executing our plays well over the past games,” said Petron’s American import Lindsay Stalzer.
She added their semis win over two-time champion Foton greatly helped motivate them to give their all.
And that was evident last Tuesday.
They bombarded the Cargo Movers with an assortment of bombs to win the match with nary a trouble.
With the opportunity of a sweep, Petron coach Shaq delos Santos said they will do everything to end the series today.
“Hindi kami magpapabaya,” said Petron coach Shaq Delos Santos. “Mas dodoblehin pa naming kung ano yung mga effort naming nung Game 1.”
To do that, Delos Santos said they must play without fear and handle the pressure like carrying a baby.
“Lalaruin lang naming ang normal game naming. Hindi kami gagawa ng kakaiba kasi opportunity na namin ito,” Delos Santos added.
Delos Santos will continue to rely on American imports Stalzer and Hillary Hurley, who outshone F2 Logistics’ foreign reinforcements Maria Jose Perez and Kennedy Bryan.
Stalzer and Hurley conspired for 40 points including 31 attacks compared to Perez and Bryan’s combined 23 points – all from kills.
Delos Santos is again looking forward to see big games from Remy Palma, Mika Reyes, Ces Molina and Rhea Dimaculangan.
F2 Logistics coach Ramil De Jesus remains positive despite losing Game 1, saying they will cover all the bases next time.
“We failed our test in Game 1. Now, we have to go back to the drawing board to pass Game 2 and stay alive,” said De Jesus.
