Tanduay Alab Pilipinas wasted a golden chance at nailing its first victory in the ASEAN Basketball League after suffering a 99-96 loss to defending champion Hong Kong Eastern in their game held Wednesday night at Southorn Stadium in the Hong Kong district of Wan Chai.
Alab held a 10-point lead in the third quarter behind imports Ivan Johnson and Reggie Okosa but failed to sustain their form to absorb their third straight loss – no thanks to Fil-German Christian Standhardinger, American guard Marcus Elliott, local Lee Ki and Thai-American Tyler Lamb.
That Alab earned the dubious distinction as the first Filipino club to start the ABL season with three straight losses.
