The Senate has unanimously passed on third and final reading a resolution certified as urgent by President Duterte doubling the salaries of military and other uniformed personnel.
Twenty senators voted in favor of Joint Resolution No. 11 which authorizes the increase in the base pay of MUP. The measure was approved shortly after its passage on second reading before the Senate adjourned its session for the holiday season.
The House of Representatives has approved a counterpart resolution on the pay increase. Congress has to adopt the measure before it takes effect on Jan. 1.
The approved resolution would apply to all military personnel under the Department of Defense and other uniformed personnel under the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Philippine Coast Guard, and the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority.
