Malacañang has suspended government work on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2 to enable government employees to spend more time with their family.
“In order to give the employees of the government full opportunity to celebrate the holidays with their families and loves ones, work in government offices, including government-owned and -controlled corporations, government financial institutions, state universities and colleges, local government units, and other agencies and instrumentalities, is hereby suspended on 26 December 2017 and 02 January 2018,” Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea said in Memorandum Circular No. 37 he signed Wednesday.
However, Malacañang said agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness, or response to disasters and calamities; and or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services.
Malacañang has left the suspension of work in other branches of government and independent commissions or bodies to the discretion of their heads.
The suspension of work in the private sector has also been left to discretion of management.
