Malacañang has reiterated its warning against the use of firecrackers a few days before the New Year and reminded the people that President Duterte has signed Executive Order No. 28 order regulating the use of pyrotechnics.
Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar reminded the public that the use of pyrotechnics outside a designated area is now prohibited by EO No. 28.
EO No. 28 signed by Duterte last June regulates and controls the use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices.
The EO confines the use of firecrackers to community fireworks display to minimize the risk of injuries and casualties.
Andanar said Filipinos will just have to get used to designated firecracker zones for public safety.
“At the end of the day, we will all realize na mas masaya na meron lang isang designated area na pwedeng magpaputok, ma-e-enjoy natin lahat,” he said.
(Argyll Cyrus B. Geducos)
