Christmas Day is celebrated everywhere, even behind bars.
Around 1,000 people flocked to Quezon City Jail yesterday to celebrate Christmas Day with their detained loved ones.
QC Jail Warden Ermilito Motal allowed the families of the detainees to visit their loved ones even on a Monday, rest day on regular visiting days.
According to Moral, they adjusted the visiting hours for the Christmas Day to 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. from the regular visiting hours of 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Tuesday to Sunday.
“We wanted them to celebrate and feel the spirit of Christmas even if they are behind bars,” Moral said.
On Christmas Eve, inmates also had a “Noche Buena” through a boodle fight inside the jail compound, Moral shared.
A Holy Mass was also celebrated inside the compound.
Christmas songs filled the QC Jail compound as family members reunite again with their loved ones for the holiday season. (Alexandria San Juan)
