HOW true that the movie “Gandarrapiddo: The Revenger Squad” starring ace comedian Vice Ganda, Pia Wurtzbach and Daniel Padilla topped the first and second day opening of the 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival?
Sources said the Vice Ganda’s movie earned P80 million on Christmas Day, the start of the official showing of the eight entries for the MMFF.
On second day, Dec. 26, the movie reportedly grossed more than R56 million as of 7 p.m.
The same source did not disclose the other box-office receipts of the other MMFF movies.
“Vice Ganda is still the undisputed box-office star,” the sources said.
But this could not be immediately confirmed nor denied after Noel Ferrer, spokesperson for MMFF 2017, commented that they will only announce the final ranking of the eight official entries after Jan. 7, 2018.
Even the stars and the movie camps of the eight competing movies were not allowed to divulge the earnings of their movies.
Ferrer said that this year’s MMFF broke box-office records as it surpassed the 2015 first and second day gross sales, although he did not disclose any figures.
The “It’s Showtime” host was not present during the MMFF 2017 Gabi ng Parangal awards ceremony held at the Kia Theater in Cubao, Quezon City last Wednesday.
While the awarding ceremonies were on-going, Vice Ganda announced on Twitter that he was leaving for abroad.
“Philippines im leaving you with LOVE and LAUGHTER. Bakasyon lang muna si Gandarra. Vavoooooo!!!!” he said.
“My Little Ponies kayo na muna bahala dyan ha. Keri nyo na ‘yan malalakas na horse power nyo. Take charge!
Hayabayabayu!” Vice Ganda added.
Vice Ganda didn’t say where he is going. It believed that he going to the US to visit his mother.
