Three fishermen were found dead after they were swept from their capsized boat into the waters off Lower Bicutan, Taguig City Monday, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.
Three other fishermen survived the incident after they were able to seek help from a passing motorbanca Sunday afternoon.
It was learned that the six fishermen onboard an unnamed motorbanca departed from a fish pen guard house en route to Purok 3, Barangay New Lower Bicutan, Taguig City.
The survivors claimed that on their way home at 4 p.m. Sunday, the motorbanca was hit by big waves and strong winds causing it to capsize.
The survivors claimed that when the motorbanca that rescued them came, their three other companions were nowhere to be found.
The next day, Coast Guard Special Operation Unit, Coast Guard K9 and Regional Risk Reduction Management Office retrieved the bodies of the three fishermen near the area where the motorboat reportedly capsized.
Authorities revealed that the victims were under the influence of liquor when they decided to sail back home at 4 p.m. Sunday.
The bodies were turned over to the police. (Betheena Kae Unite)
