The Department of Justice (DoJ) announced yesterday the conviction of three pimps who offered young girls for sex to passing motorists in Marikina City.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II identified the three pimps as Marwin Raya alias Kevin, Shiela Borromeo alias Kate, and Arlie Peña alias Ellaine.
“The three were caught in an entrapment operation offering the services of complainants SNRZ and JEC, then 17 years old, to motorists along Marcos Highway, Marikina City,” the secretary said in a statement.
“The pimps charge the customers from P1,000 – P1,500 for the young women’s services, for which they get “commission” ranging from P100 – P500 each,” he noted.
Aguirre also learned the victims were being “booked” three times a week and each of them had “sex with at least two to three men in one night.”
The secretary lauded Assistant State Prosecutor Karla Cabel for her efforts in securing the conviction of the three accused.
Aguirre said the Marikina City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 168 has found the three guilty beyond reasonable doubt of Attempted Qualified Trafficking in persons under paragraph [a], Section 4 as qualified under paragraph [a], Section 6 of RA 9208, the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003.
With this, the RTC sentenced each of them to suffer 15 years of imprisonment, pay a P1-million fine, as well as ordered each to pay each of the private complainants P50,000 as moral damages.
