University of Perpetual Help and San Beda clash today with hopes of joining early leader Arellano University at the resumption of the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
Match is at 12:30 p.m. with the Lady Altas and the Red Spikers seeking their second straight respective victories in as many outings.
Both teams are coming off contrasting wins with Perpetual Help sweeping Lyceum, 25-21, 25-17, 25-22, over the weekend and San Beda surviving Jose Rizal University, 23-25, 25-19, 13-25, 25-19, 15-9, last week.
Maria Lourdes Clemente, Cindy Imbo, and Aurora Tripoli are set to banner the Lady Altas’ offense after combining for 37 points the last time, but they needed to adjust quickly to limit their errors after stumbling into 27 the last time.
The Red Spikers, for their part, have Ces Racraquin and Nieza Viray in front of their offensive assault, but will need to step up on their defense after failing to convert a single block in their five-set win over the Lady Bombers.
Last year’s semifinalist College of St. Benilde, likewise, aims for a share of the lead when it tangles with Lyceum at 11 a.m.
Inspired with their 25-22, 25-11, 25-20 win over Letran last week, the Lady Blazers hope to continue their momentum particularly at the service line after firing 12 servie aces the last time.
Ranya Musa and Rachel Austero will spearhead St. Benilde after conspiring for 28 points, but it needs to keep its guard ready as Lyceum seeks to regain its balance after losing to Perpetual Help.
In men’s action, Lyceum and St. Benilde square off at 9:30 a.m., while Perpetual and San Beda meet at 2 p.m.
Junior teams Lyceum and St. Benilde raise the curtain at 8 a.m., while the Perpetual Junior Altas and the San Beda Red Cubs battle at 3:30 p.m.
