John Lloyd Cruz’s hard work in Lav Diaz’s revenge drama Ang Babaeng Humayo continues to win raves overseas. The actor earned a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the 15th International Cinephile Society.
The film is also nominated for best adapted screenplay and best film in the same award-giving body.
These nominations came almost two years after the film won the top prize at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival in 2016.
John Lloyd plays the role of Hollanda a transvestite whom Horacia eventually takes under her wing.
Nominated in the same category are Willem Dafoe, Armie Hammer, Michael Stuhlbargknown, Barry Keoghan, and Arnaud Valois.
The winners of the 15th ICS Awards will be announced on February 4.
Formed in 2003, the International Cinephile Society is an online group made up of approximately 100 accredited journalists, film scholars, historians and other industry professionals who cover film festivals and events in five continents.
The award-giving body aims to honor “the finest in American and international cinema.”
