San Sebastian is expected to unleash its depleted but unyielding lineup when it guns for its fourth straight win today in NCAA women’s volleyball at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Lady Stags, composed of only eight players, clash with similarly undermanned Lyceum Pirates at 11 a.m. as they seek to untangle from a logjam at third place with the University of Perpetual Help Lady Altas.
San Sebastian and Perpetual tote identical 4-2 marks.
Cohesion remains San Sebastian’s driving force in its challenging bid to eclipse a runnerup finish last season, and it showed in its impressive victories over College of St. Benilde, Mapua and Letran.
Part of the Lady Stags’ recent feats came from a floor defense led by libero Alyssa Eroa, which makes them the current Best Digger team in the league.
Offense will also be San Sebastian’s weapon with leading top spiker Joyce Sta. Rita joining forces with Nikka Dalisay and Daurene Santos.
Lyceum, also parading with an eight-player lineup, refused to be cowed though by San Sebastian’s tenacity as it aims to climb from a 1-5 record.
Bien Juanillo, Christine Miralles and Monica Sevilla spearhead the Lady Pirates, who are coming off three straight defeats.
The San Sebastian Stags and the Lyceum Pirates square off in the men’s division at 9:30 a.m. while the San Sebastian Junior Stags and the Lyceum Junior Pirates meet at 8 a.m.
