ACTRESS Lorna Tolentino has said that she is more focused on health rather than finding a new companion in life these days.
“Hindi na siguro because meron na ring changes sa sarili ko, not only my age, but having all the hormonal changes, siguro ‘yun muna ang dapat kong asikasuhin at intindihin,” said Tolentino, when asked if she is still looking for a new partner, during an interview on “Tonight With Boy Abunda” on ABS CBN.
Tolentino, 56, was previously married to action star Rudy Fernandez who passed away on June 7, 2008. They have two children Ralph and Renz.
“Mas OK kung ‘yun ang iisipin ko rather than having a new companion or another person na dapat ko ring asikasuhin,” said Tolentino, who appears in the new Kapamilya television series “Asintado.”
Tolentino also revealed a health scare in her life recently.
“I had it last February during my annual check-up. Nag-stress test ako and then they said ‘yung heart rate ko ang dapat is mga 90, sa akin nasa 170, ‘yung beats nya per minute;
“So I need to take a maintenance for that. Eto ngayon, so far, mag-wa-one year na sa February, so I’ll have my check up again. So far so good naman;
“Buti nakita at na-agapan. Kaya hindi ako nag mi-miss ng annual check-up. Once your menopause na, so ‘yun ang mangyayari. Marami ka ng magiging sakit,” said Tolentino.
The award-winning actress who started to appear in the movies when she was only six years old celebrates her 50th year in show business this year.
Tolentino enumerated the top three memorable movies she did.
“Syempre ‘Somewhere.’ It’s meaningful for me and Daboy. That was 1983. I gave birth to Raphael pa lang. Tapos mga five months pa lang s’ya sinasama na namin sa shooting. Marami kaming eksena dun na pinag-usapan namin;
“Pangalawa is ‘Moral’ kasi ‘yun ‘yung time na sinabi nila ‘Marunong pala s’yang umarte.’ Dun pa lang nakita;
“Kasi nung bandang 14 years old ako I did ‘Dulce Amor: Ina,’ ‘Yun ‘yung parang sexy films na ‘yung ginagawa. And then yung ‘Moral’ s’ya ‘yung pinaka-turning point na sinasabi nila, ‘uy she can act!’
“And of course ‘Narito ang Puso Ko,’ kasi parang five years akong always nominated, finally nangyari sa ‘Narito Ang Puso Ko,’” she said.
In 1992, Tolentino earned the grand slam actress title when she won all the Best Actress trophies in major award-giving bodies.
For the first time, Tolentino gamely participated in the Fast Talk portion of the late-night program. Parts of the conversation:
