L to R: Superiex Chairman & President Bruce Liu, SnippetMEdia’s head of legal and accounting Atty. Cherry-Amor Chao, and SnippetMEdia COO Martin Cerantonio formally seal their strategic partnership of introducing blockchain technology in digital media practice in the Philippines.

In an age where identity theft, online fraud, and “fake news” are now prevalent, data security has become a top concern. Enter, BLOCKCHAIN.

A technology developed to structure data, blockchain is set to change and improve the way various fields operate — from network security to identity authentication, e-commerce, intellectual property protection, and so much more. In media practice, this rising technology is soon to land in the Philippine market via the SnippetMEdia and Superiex.

SnippetMEdia, launched in 2016 as a pioneering digital media app that seeks to become a single destination for the world’s most entertaining and trusted sources of information, recently formalized its deal with Superiex.

A Chinese company, Superiex is a “digital asset trading platform and digital goods supermarket, but also a decentralized financial services hub.” Its president, Mr. Liu Tian Le; tech lead, Mr. Wu U; and blockchain specialist, Mr. Jiang Pingyou, were in Manila along with their other team members from China in the contract signing with their counterparts from SnippetMEdia during a simple ceremony held on January 31 at the New World Hotel in Makati City.

“Superiex and SnippetMEdia have worked very hard to come to this point. We look for a very prosperous working relationship moving forward. Our goal is to bring a world-class platform to the Philippines. We hope to empower all our users and to bring the Philippine technology industry to the forefront,” Martin Cerantonio, SnippetMEdia’s chief operating officer, stated.

With blockchain technology, SnippetMEdia will be able to fully enhance its big data and processes, specifically:

  • Management of user behavior such as publishing, reading, forwarding, and commenting on articles/posts/media, and following users
  • Copyright–allows users to register the ownership of any form of content
  • Intellectual property protection–ensures that online digital text, photos, and videos are fully protected

“Blockchain technology is slowly becoming the trend in social development in recent years and has become an important strategic plan for all countries. Superiex’s long-term experience accumulated, strong technical team, and leading products we have developed in the field of blockchain technology have made us one of the leaders in blockchain,” said Bruce Liu, Superiex chairman and president.

Liu added that Superiex’s partnership with SnippetMEdia in the Philippines will “create a bright future for blockchain in the country” and that they will “seize every opportunity and continuously improve the core technology of blockchain so as to become the leading enterprise with global influence soon.”

Emphasis is put on blockchain’s most important benefit: establishing trust between users it being “a trust-generating machine. Through a global public account or ledger, it creates trust,” per Superiex’s chief blockchain counselor, Pingyu Jiang.

“SnippetMEdia will solely be responsible for setting the rules, creating marketing tools, providing media copyright protection and traceability, rewarding content creators and distributors, and assisting in the completion of asset circulation platform,” Jiang added.

The strategic partnership between the two companies is only the beginning of SnippetMEdia’s plans in bringing engaging content in the Philippines. With the help of Superiex’s expertise in blockchain technology, SnippetMEdia aspires to further expand its services, with the end goal of helping and bringing Filipino independent content creators to the forefront via its mobile app SnippetMEdia.
