Game Today (Surabaya, Indonesia)
8 p.m. – CLS Knights vs Alab Pilipinas
San Miguel Alab Pilipinas goes for a seventh straight victory and maintain its hold on the third spot against host CLS Knights today in the ASEAN Basketball League at the GOR Kertajaya Arena in Surabaya, Indonesia.
Coach Jimmy Alapag and the rest of Alab (9-4) are in no mood to let their guards down as they seek another win over the Knights in the 8 p.m. Manila time and stay within an earshot of top two teams Hong Kong Eastern (10-2) and Chong Son Kung Fu (9-2).
Alab is coming off an 86-84 triumph over Thailand’s Mono Vampire on Renaldo Balkman’s layup and Justin Brownlee’s block in the dying seconds last Wednesday at the Baliuag Star Arena in Bulacan to move into third place after a 0-3 start.
Balkman and Brownlee lead the charge anew with locals Ray Parks Jr., Josh Urbiztondo and Lawrence Domingo expected to continue their strong showing against the Indonesian side.
The Filipinos won the first meeting, 92-87, last Jan. 20 at the same venue but CLS could make things difficult for them despite a 3-9 record.
CLS is coming off a 100-75 loss to Chong Son two nights ago in Nanhai, China with Thai-American Freddie Goldstein and former Alaska import Shane Edwards the only bright spots with 29 and 14 points, respectively.
