MUCH AWAITED – The two most awaited films this year are “Darna” and “Goyo,” topbilled by Liza Soberano and Paulo Avelino.
“Darna” is, of course, the most famous Filipino superwoman, earlier portrayed by Rosa del Rosario, Vilma Santos, Gina Pareno, Angel Locsin, Marian Rivera, among others.
“Goyo” is the brave, dashing, and young General Gregorio del Pilar, Hero of Tirad Pass. In past biofilms, Jose Padilla Jr. and Romnick Sarmenta played Del Pilar.

BOX-OFFICE BATTLE – There are unconfirmed reports that “Darna” and “Goyo” might just engage in a box-office battle.
Yes, have the same playdate. Which, if you ask me, isn’t advisable. As they say, “Magkakasakitan sa takilya.”
Directed by Erik Matti, “Darna” is high-tech, showing the superwoman as she’s never been seen before. The budget?
Erik and Star Cinema have stopped counting the cost.
Directed by Jerold Tarrog and produced by TBA, “Goyo” – it said – has a mind-boggling P300M budget.
True or false, Ting (Nebrida, TBA marketing expert)?

100th BIRTHDAY – Speaking of Ting, his mother and that of Baby Nebrida-Ballesty (writer-director-producer), Toto Nebrida, and Evelyn N. Gega, Manuela Rivera Nebrida, is celebrating her 100th birthday today at The Manila Hotel.
Baby said it has to be The Manila Hotel as her mother celebrated the landmarks in her life there. She celebrated her debut, wedding reception, and golden wedding reception at The Manila Hotel.
The 100th birthday celebration – 100 years of memories and 100 years of life – is lovingly hosted by Mrs. Nebrida’s four children, brother Jun Rivera, and grandchildren: Lia, Joey, Marie, Aileen, Therese, Erica, Archie, Christie, and Jodi.
