The Philippines is no stranger when it comes to flooding, storms, and most especially typhoons. We are all too familiar with this, lalo na pa kayong mga sumusunod sa aking pagbabalita sa TV Patrol ng Weder-weder lang. We do have a typhoon belt in the Samar-Bicol region. With the latest typhoon visitor Basyang, Filipinos have been notified of more storms to come. Considering our country’s history of natural calamities, everyone is reminded to constantly stay vigilant.
One of the deadliest typhoons to ever been recorded in history was the Haiphong Typhoon in 1881. Although centrally hitting Vietnam, this typhoon managed to affect northern areas of the Philippines, thus killing 20,000 Filipinos in the process and making it the deadliest typhoon in the country’s history.

Frank (Fengshen) – Hitting mostly the central areas of the Philippines back in June 2008, Typhoon Frank claimed the lives of over 900 people. During this time, the capsizing of a ferry named Princess of the Stars made headlines after reports that the Philippine Coast Guard had given them the go signal to set sail despite poor weather conditions.
Some accounts recall that the ferry actually passed the eye of the typhoon. Frank would later make landfall in China after its devastation in the Philippines.

TRIVIA PA MORE (Various Sources): In a dark room, the color that we see is not really called black. It is called intrinsic grey, a color that looks like ash.
We only see this when the environment is too dark, although it is not as dark as black. We perceive this color only in dark rooms.
