Ateneo dropped the opening set once again, but like the last time found a way to dodge the upset bullet.
Jho Maraguinot came through with another inspiring performance as Ateneo pulled off a 21-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-14 win over University of the East for its second straight win in the UAAP women’s volleyball at The Arena in San Juan City.
Maraguinot paced the squad with 20 points built on 17 kills, two aces and one block, while skipper Maddie Madayag rose to the challenge to chip in 12 points.
Kat Tolentino and Bea De Leon also made their presence felt with 10 points each as the Lady Eagles evened their record to 2-2.
The Lady Eagles played hot and cold, allowing the Lady Warriors to rally and claim the opening set through the gutsy plays of Shaya Adorador.
In men’s match, Far Eastern University outplayed University of the Philippines, 30-28, 25-21, 24-26, 25-16, to remain unbeaten in four matches.
