Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go is ready to attend the Senate hearing on the P15.5-billion frigate project of the Department of National Defense tomorrow.
Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar said that Go will attend the Senate hearing to prove his innocence before the public.
“Talagang kating-kati na si Bong na pumunta doon sa Senado para siya mismo ang magpapaliwanag sa buong bayan,” Andanar said.
“Napakaganda nitong Senate hearing na mangyayari sa Lunes dahil mabibigyan talaga ng pagkakataon si SAP Bong Go na mapatunayan sa buong Pilipinas at sa bawat Pilipino na siya po ay inosente sa mga paratang sa kaniya,” he added.
Andanar said that he will attend the hearing to observe and support Duterte’s right-hand man. Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque also said he will also join Go as an observer and that Duterte will watch the hearing.
Andanar said Go cannot meddle with the project as it was a done deal during the previous administration. He added that Go would not meddle with a program that was good for the country.
“There’s no chance na makialam pa sa kontrata dahil panahon pa ni PNoy at this is already signed or was sealed,” Andanar said.
“In fairness to that contract, this is a very good project by the Philippine Navy and in fairness to the Aquino administration magandang proyekto ito,” he added.
Go is being accused of intervening in the selection of a second supplier for the Combat Management Systems of the two warships.
The President’s assistant had cried foul over the allegations, saying that his name was unfairly dragged in the controversy, adding that he was not privy to the frigate transaction of the DND.
