The Cabinet of President Duterte came in full force to support Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go’s testimony at the Senate hearing on the controversial P15.5-billion frigate deal yesterday.
Malacañang said there is nothing wrong with Cabinet members attending the hearing to support President Duterte’s right-hand man who is being accused of intervening in the Department of National Defense project.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said they voluntarily attended the hearing to send a message that the administration has nothing to hide.
Sen. Francis Joseph G. Escudero said in jest during the hearing that no Cabinet secretary was left in Malacañang because all of them are in the Senate.
“All I can say is wala po talagang natira sa Malacañang. Lahat po kaming nasa Malacañang nandoon sa Senado and for good reasons. Kami lang naman po magkakasama dito,” Roque said.
“Kami lang naman nagkikita dito so natural na kung ‘yung isa ay merong pagsusubok, magpapakita ka ng suporta,” he added. “Anim lang kaming magkakasama dito sa Malacañang. So as expected ‘yung anim naman nandoon.”
