Marinerong Pilipino sent AMA Online Education crashing back to earth, 109-93, yesterday behind its relentless attack for a third consecutive victory in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Pasig City Sports Center.
Forward Gab Banal banged in game-highs of 20 points and 14 rebounds on top of four assists while wingman Rian Ayonayon continued his stellar offensive showing with 18 points on an efficient 8-of-11 shooting from the field that underscored the Skippers’ fluid offensive flow against the slow-starting Titans.
Former La Salle standout Abu Tratter, tapped by national team coach Chot Reyes as part of the 14-strong unit for Gilas Pilipinas’ matches in the second window of the FIBA World Cup qualifiers this week, also did his fair share for Marinerong Pilipino with six points and seven rebounds in just nine minutes of play off the bench.
