The Philippine Azkals will get a chance to get themselves in their best possible form before the crucial 2019 Asian Cup qualifiers match against Tajikistan when they host Fiji in an international friendly on March 22 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The Philippine Football Federation made the announcement yesterday, giving the Azkals the needed tune-up before playing Tajikistan on March 27 at the same venue with a spot in the Asian Cup on the line.
It will be the first time that the national team will face a team from the Oceania zone since 2014 when the Azkals beat Papua New Guinea, 5-0, behind four goals from Mark Hartmann.
Coach Thomas Dooley and the Azkals need to beat Tajikistan to secure the country’s first qualification to Asia’s biggest football competition which the United Arab Emirates will host next year.
