The Sandiganbayan yesterday ordered the arrest of Davao del Norte Rep. Antonio Floirendo Jr. for a graft case involving alleged irregular lease of land by his family-owned company at the Davao Penal Colony managed by the Bureau of Corrections.
Bail of R30,000 was set for Floirendo’s provisional liberty once he complies with the arrest order.
The arrest order was issued by the anti-graft court’s sixth division chaired by Associate Justice Sarah Jane Fernandez on a case filed by the Ombudsman based on the complaint lodged by House Speaker Pantaleon D. Alvarez.
The arrest order has been relayed to the National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine National Police in their offices in Metro Manila and Davao del Norte.
The Sandiganbayan had earlier issued a hold departure order against Floirendo.
Alvarez slapped Floirendo with a graft complaint over the Davao del Norte solon’s alleged financial interest in the joint venture agreement between Tagum Agricultural Development Authority and Anflo Management and Investment Corp., on the one hand, and the Bucor, on the other.
Anflocor is Tadeco’s subsidiary. Both Tadeco and its subsidiary are controlled by the Floirendo family.
