An 18-year-old high school coed was allegedly raped by six minors during a drinking session in a rented apartment Friday in Barangay Looc, Mandaue City in Cebu.
The victim, whose name was withheld by police, was with her 21-year-old sister when they joined the party, according to Chief Insp. Wilbert Parilla of the Mandaue Police Station 5.
The victim’s sister told police said one of the suspects is a friend of her former boyfriend. She got wind of the party after reading the Facebook post of one of the suspects.
The siblings went to the apartment around 10 p.m. Thursday and started consuming two bottles of brandy.
After having a drink too many, the victim, a public high school student, had to be helped out by four suspects into a room in the second floor, purportedly to get rest.
The victim’s sister said she sensed something wrong when the suspects started to take turns getting up and down the stairs.
She told police that after hearing her sister’s cries, she rushed upstairs where she saw the victim naked and bring raped by the suspects.
She berated the suspects and brought home the victim and told their elder brother about the ordeal.
They called police who arrested the intoxicated suspects who were still in the apartment.
Four of the suspects are 16-years-old and two others are 17. They are all Grade 11 students of a private school.
The apartment was rented by three cousins from Masbate.
Parilla said the suspects initially gathered for a group project that eventually ended up in a drinking session.
Four suspects admitted raping the victim while two others said they have nothing to do with the attack, according to Parilla.
The minors were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) while police decide how to proceed with the case.
