4:15 p.m. – Smart vs Cocolife
7 p.m. – Cignal vs Foton
Petron recovered from an anemic showing in the second set and repulsed Cignal, 25-17, 8-25, 25-20, 25-17, yesterday to gain the early solo lead in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at the Sta. Rosa Sports Center in Laguna.
It was the Blaze Spikers’ second straight win in as many matches – thanks to imports Lindsay Stalzer and Hillary Hurley who dazzled the crowd with their power plays.
It was also the two who roused the team from a deep stupor.
Hurley, however, admitted that Cignal was indeed a tough team.
“They’re (Cignal) a pretty tough team and I think we were on this stage where we’re getting to know how they’re playing, so it was a big test for us,” said Hurley, who fired 14 attacks, three aces and one block.
Stalzer also provided the needed firepower with 13 kills and five aces.
Cignal absorbed its first loss after sweeping its opening game against Cocolife, 25-15, 28-26, 25-15.
