The low-pressure area east of Mindanao could bring heavy rains over the Bicol region, Eastern Visayas, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur today, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said yesterday.
PAGASA estimated the location of the LPA at 345 kilometers west-southwest of General Santos City, South Cotabato or 180 kms south of Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur before noon yesterday.
The weather disturbance will bring cloudy skies with moderate to occasional heavy rains and thunderstorms over Masbate, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Biliran, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Northern Samar, Samar, Southern Leyte, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur.
PAGASA advised residents in these areas to take precautionary measures against possible flash floods and landslides and coordinate with their local disaster risk reduction and management offices. (Ellalyn V. Ruiz)
