Centro Escolar University bounced back from a shock defeat the last time by downing Akari-Adamson, 76-57, yesterday to regain the top spot in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao, Quezon City.
Congolese center Rod Ebondo pounced on the absence of Falcons counterpart Papi Sarr as he pumped in game-highs of 25 points, 18 rebounds and three blocks while leading the Scorpions’ early onslaught.
The wire-to-wire victory enabled CEU to bounce back from a 91-89 overtime loss to Go for Gold-St. Benilde last Thursday and jack up its record to 4-1 behind a sustained performance that left coach Yong Garcia pleased.
“Talagang pinagtrabahuhan namin yung pinagensayuhan namin. Kaya rin maganda ang naging resulta ng game,” he said, impressed with the Scorpions’ blinding 19-4 start before leading by as many as 23 points midway in the final period.
