June Mar Fajardo is on pace to break the all-time record for most number of Best Player of the Conference awards after emerging as the Statistical Points leader at the end of the PBA Philippine Cup eliminations.
The 6-foot-10 star of the San Miguel Beermen compiled 44.1 Statistical Points in 10 games to put himself in a good position to capture a fourth straight best player plum in the PBA’s preeminent tournament and sixth overall that will break the tie with former teammate Danny Ildefonso.
Fellow Beermen Arwind Santos is a distant second with 37.6 SPs, followed by GlobalPort’s Stanley Pringle (35.6), Blackwater’s JP Erram (35.3) and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s Japeth Aguilar (34.2).
Another BPC trophy in the Philippine Cup would boost Fajardo’s bid to become the first player ever to win five PBA Most Valuable Player awards. He is currently tied with Ramon Fernandez and Alvin Patrimonio for most all-time with four apiece.
