Despite the reported tension between Kawhi Leonard and the Spurs, the all-star forward revealed that he wants to stay in San Antonio.
Leonard also said that he would want to retire as a member of the Spurs per ESPN’s Michael C. Wright. “Yeah, for sure,” Leonard answered without hesitation when asked if he wants to play for the Spurs for the rest of his career.
The 26-year-old also addressed his status as he recovers from quadriceps tendinopathy – the injury that shelved him for the most part of the 2017-18 season.
“Soon. I don’t have a set date right now,” Leonard told reporters. “I just have to keep doing what I’m doing. The progression that I am making has been great. I just have to keep doing what I’m doing.”
Leonard also revealed that he is on the same page with the management when it comes to his recovery process. “Everything was done as a group. I don’t feel like nothing was friction. I talk to [head Coach Gregg Popovich] every day. He knows what the progressions were. He knew what I am doing the whole entire time.”
