Promising guard Ricci Rivero has already cleared the air on why he, along with his elder brother Prince and close buddy Brent Paraiso, took a leave of absence from La Salle’s practice sessions.
But what still remains uncertain until now is whether the 6-foot-1 Rivero will still don the school’s green and white colors or seek a fresh start with rival UAAP schools, with Ateneo and University of Santo Tomas emerging as his potential destinations.
According to a highly-placed source, the Rivero family is observing a “status quo” for the meantime as the celebrated brothers look to finish their academic commitments in La Salle until the semester ends next month.
Ricci himself admitted that he’s still attending his classes amid the latest controversy that rocked the Green Archers’ camp in the aftermath of their failed UAAP title-retention bid at the hands of archrival Ateneo Blue Eagles last year.
But Ricci, fresh from a breakout performance in UAAP which earned him a spot in the esteemed Mythical Team, appears to be singing a different tune as far as his basketball career is concerned.
“They’re trying to reach out to the team management,” the source, who is closely monitoring the delicate situation, told Tempo-Bulletin in a phone interview yesterday.
